William E. Bowne 1941-2010

William E. Bowne, beloved father and friend, died February 19, 2010 at Sharon Hospital. He was 69.

William was born January 5, 1941 in Danbury, CT to Everett and Evelyn Bowne. After his education William worked for Bel Air Farms, Miron Lumber in Poughkeepsie, and Maplebrook School in Amenia. William was well known for driving around his cherished 1974 Chevy Nova around the streets of Millerton.

William is survived by his wife Kate of Rhinebeck, a son, William “Adam” Bowne of Sharon, a daughter, Aimee Nicole Bowne and her companion Jeff Vincent and their expected child of Poughkeepsie, a sister Helen Raymond of Houston, TX,close nephews Dennis Raymond of Newburgh and Blane Vincent Traver, Jr. of Millerton, as well as several other nieces and nephews.

William was predeceased by his mother Evelyn, sister Edie Wright, and daughter Christie Lea Bowne.

A memorial service for William will be held Saturday February 27 at 11:00 am at the Valentine Funeral Home, 37 Park Ave. Millerton. Memorial Contributions may be made to Valentine Funeral Home PO Box 275 Millerton, NY 12546 at the family's request to help defer medical and funeral expenses.

Harry Gop 1923-2009
 

Harry Gop of Millerton died Friday November 20 at Sharon Hospital. He was 86.

Harry was born October 1, 1923 in Housatonic, MA to Anthony and Mary Gop. Harry married Shirley Kitcher who predeceased him. Harry was a veteran of the World War II and Korean War era. He was life member of the Millerton Fire Department and the American Legion in Millerton. He worked as a meat cutter for Finest in Canaan, CT.

Harry is survived by his sons Bruce and Joann Gop of Millerton, Richard Gop of Millerton, Timothy Gop of Millerton, his daughters Christine and Thomas Way of College Station, TX and Sharon Marcantonio of Torrington, CT, His brother Stanley Gop, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Harry's family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at Sharon Hospital for the wonderful care they provided for Harry.

Stephanie Amber Murphy 1992-2009

Stephanie Amber Murphy, born October 14, 1992 in Sharon, CT, daughter of Brandi-Ann and Jerry Murphy of Amenia, NY has lost her life on July 31st. Stephanie is survived by her sister Samantha and her dog Punky, Grandparents Nancy and Larry Murphy, Uncle Jay Murphy, Grandparents Linda and Larry Sands and John Graben, Great Grandparents Charlotte Murphy and Sylvia Schultz, and the late Great Grandfathers James Murphy and Lewis Schultz, and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Although very young she touched many lives with her bright smile, quick wit, and love of life. Stephanie was a student at Webutuck Central high School where she would have graduated with the Class of 2010 pursuing a career in nursing. Calling hours for Stephanie will be on Wednesday, August 5 at The Valentine Funeral Home in Millerton from 3 to 6pm for family and friends of the family. Followed by a Celebration of Life at the Webutuck High School at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Murphy's, 164 Depot Hill Road, Amenia, NY 12501.

Dominick "Don" Ezzo died Friday January 8, 2010. He was 88.
 
Most recently living in Torrington, CT, Don also had lived in Millerton, Freeport and Queens,NY. He was Born in Rutland, VT. DOn grew up with several brothers and sisters, and was especially close to Sam, Tony, Joe, and Harry who preceded him in death.After training at Brewster Aeronautical, a defense contractor in Queens, NY, Don proudly served in the US Army 736th Engineer Heavy Shop Company during the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign in WWII. He later opened D&H Auto with his partner and brother Harry in Queens, NY. A track and football player in his youth, Don loved the outdooors, spending many years in Millerton, NY snowmobiling, gardening and entertaining family and friends. DOn was an avid bowler, and with his aeronautical engineering and automotive background, was a remarkable builder and landscaper. He is survived by many loved ones, including Anita, Jeffrey,Jennifer, Laura, Maureen, Sarah, Erica, Joseph, Jonathon, and great-grandchild Logan. Don would want to extend a caring thanks to Jennifer, Erica, and Joseph, who proved a constant light caring for him for many years.

 

Millard H. Millius, Jr. 1941-2009

Millard H. Millius, Jr. of Millerton died August 4, 2009. He was 67.

Millard was born December 5, 1941 in Rhinebeck to Millard H. Millius, Sr. and Margaret Bowen. He married Catherine Chapman in 1961. Mrs. Millius Survives at home. Millard attended Webutuck, and worked as a laborer for Westchester Modular Homes in Wingdale. Millard was also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing in his spare time.

In addition to his wife Millard is Survived by three children, John and Jackie Millius, Mary Millius, Susan Millius, and Jimmy and Kelly Millius, a sister Catherine Juchem, brothers Robert Millius and Freddie Millius, as well as several grandchildren.

The will be no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Marcelene Shirley Berry
AMENIA - Marcelene Shirley Berry, of Amenia, passed away suddenly on February 10, 2010. Born on April 12, 1951 in Manchester CT to Robert and Shirley Johnston. She graduated from Carmel High School in 1970 She graduated from BOCES in Poughkeepsie in June 1990 as an LPN, and fulfilling her life dream of becoming a nurse. She worked for the State and retired in August 2009 after 33 years of working there. She enjoyed taking care of adults with special needs and disabilities. She was a loving mother of one daughter Judi Stoerzinger and her husband Gary Stoerzinger Sr, of Germantown NY, and loving grandmother of two, D'Arcy Smith of Ghent NY and Gary Stoerzinger Jr of Germantown NY. She is also survived by her long time love and companion William Mayhew of Amenia NY, her mother Shirley Johnston of Brewster NY, two sisters Jesse Johnston of Brewster NY and Darlene Smalley and brother-inlaw Steve Smalley of Poughquag NY, two nephews, one niece, and one great niece. She was predeceased by her brother Reginald Johnston and father Robert Johnston

 

 

Wesley Berlinghoff 1938-2009

Wesley Berlinghoff died Thursday October 15 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. He was 71.

Wesley was born March 15, 1938 to Lorentz and Myrtle (Sefton) Berlinghoff in Oceanside, NY where he resided until 1979. Wesley owned Amenia Auto Body for 25 years. He was also a member of the Amenia Fire Department for many years.

Wesley is survived by his wife of 50 years Peg, three sons Wesley and his fiance Tina, Thomas and his wife Kathy, Timothy and his wife Vivian, one daughter, Pamela and her husband Robert, his mother, Myrtle of Oceanside NY, Sister Lorraine , also of Oceanside, NY. Wesley is also survived by six grandchildren and two great grandsons, and four nieces and nephews.

Wesley was predeceased by his father Lorentz, a grandson Thomas, and a nephew William Gibfried.

Memorial Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Calling Hours for Wesley will be held Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Valentine Funeral Home, 37 Park Ave. Millerton
